Abstract

There is a small number of conducted scientific research in psychology regarding literary creativity and gifted adolescent writers.. The study presented within this paper is covering this topic. The aim of the research was to discover the personality traits of the adolescents attempting to create literary output. The following methods have been used during the study: Adjective Check List (ACL) and Creative Behaviour Questionnaire KANH. A group of high-school students located in Lublin Voivodeship participated in the investigation. The output of the research has been examined using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method. Theoretical assumptions were based on a tripartite model of creative personality proposed by E. Nęcka. The results are its empirical confirmation. Youth creative writers are being characterised with four factors: perfectionism, narcissism, extraversion and low self-esteem. Within the structure of the comparative group, that was composed of young people acting actively in other areas of art, three factors have been found: social conformism, the tendency to have impact on others and sensation seeking. A factor specific for young artists of the literature is low self-esteem, which is justified in studies of adult writers and poets.
