Abstract

The topic of the article are experiences defined as epiphanies (N. Denzin) and as crystallizing experiences (H. Gardner), being the turning points in biographies of famous authors. The writer is undertaking an attempt of defining the nature of these experiences and their significance for the course of their artistic work and life of selected authors, describes the types of epiphanies and crystallizing experiences as well as he gives two spectacular examples. Epiphanies and crystallizing experiences may constitute an interesting and attractive subject of biographical research in pedagogy. The scope of problems of such a research is outlined by the writer in the second part of the text and it concerns various issues of the formation of a mature biography. The departure point for these problems is a self-attempt of classifying these turning points in authors? biographies.
